Mental Health

Here are some of the most important questions that we should introspect about:

How are you feeling?
What are you thinking?
What is bothering you the most?
What really started it?

Mental health is directly related to your physical health. Emotions always take the upper hand, always. You might have read and memorized the full textbook, but if you get anxious and panic then you can't write even a sentence in your exam.

Homeopathy can help in managing these mental health issues and the related psychosomatic (physical problems due to emotional causes) problems as well. Certain emotions like resentment, hatred, and apathy can be a major block in your treatment. Many times we are unaware of how much our feelings and thoughts are blocking our path toward health.

Positive thinking and all the intellectual exercises and self-help books are useless unless we do "Positive Feeling". The 'will' always dominates the intellect. Unless you address your emotions your intellectual faculties might make you successful but not happy. The physique definitely will give in in due course of time.

All feel differently to the same situation. That is the uniqueness of an individual which homeopathy tries to recognize and treat accordingly.

Eg: I feel stressed about the lockdown situation is a very vague symptom.

The individual feelings could be:
One person is stressed because he has a fear of death due to the infection. Here the emotion is fear.

One person is not bothered about death, he is worried whether he will get that promotion when the office resumes or his colleague will get it. Here we see issues with confidence and jealousy.

One person is sad and depressed since he is already fired. Now he had to search for a job. He is losing hope. Here we see depression and hopelessness with apathy which has started to creep in.

One person is angry that his project got halted due to this situation and he is blaming the foreign country for the infection, his boss for not accepting his project a month earlier even though it was ready, his colleague for not supporting him, etc. We see anger, impatience, and resentment.

One person is impatient, irritable, and restless at home since he is always on the move and does not know how to stay in one room for so long. Here we see impatience and helplessness.

So you see, stress due to the lockdown has a different impact on different individuals.

Similarly, statements like I think a lot, I get anxious easily, I am short-tempered, I am disciplined, I like cleanliness, I am reserved, I am an extrovert are vague symptoms. We need to know WHY? They are the leaves, where are the roots. The roots can go way back to your childhood. You need to identify, accept, and deal with the issue accordingly.

The lockdown is only one such trigger event in your life. You need to think about other events that could have started/caused/initiated that migraine or backache or chronic indigestion or diabetes or hypertension or arthritis or hairfall or skin disease or panic episodes or vertigo or whatever you are suffering from. You might have forgotten about it or did not know that it was important to tell me during the consultation. Now is the time to think and write. Balance your emotions and it will balance your health.

This is an exercise to help you sort out and identify your emotions. Do write it down on paper or on your mobile or laptop. Writing helps.

Remember:
How are you feeling?
What are you thinking?
What is bothering you the most?
What really started it?

If the symptoms are acute then you need to analyze how were you feeling just before the acute episode started. The feeling related to the acute problem can be the same or different from the feeling associated with your chronic ailments.

Other measures like yoga, meditation, breathing exercises, psychotherapy, and counseling can be done along with your treatment.
